What is the typical Aussie Christmas? Is it a tradition roast with pudding, or a seafood lunch and pavlova? Is it family and friends dropping in followed by a game of backyard cricket? Is it a swim at the beach followed by an afternoon kip? Or is it leftovers for dinner and a few more celebratory drinks that night as you get your second wind?
For Matt Scullion it’s all of those things and more. It’s the one day of the year you can rejoice in all that’s yours and not feel guilty about over indulging.
‘Christmas In Australia’ was written by Golden Guitar winning Australiana singer/songwriter Matt Scullion and produced by the extremely talented Shane Nicholson.
In these uncertain times Christmas Day means more than it ever has. What better way to spread the good cheer than to give the gift of a song.
Matt Scullion is a Golden Guitar winning artist with 22 number one songs to his credit. Originally from Ulladulla on the South Coast of NSW, he now calls Glencoe on the Northern Tablelands home.
Matt’s latest eleven track album ‘Aussie As Vol II’ has so far produced two chart topping singles including the historic ‘1868’. The song tells the story of the first Australian cricket team to tour internationally which was an all Indigenous side. Matt was asked by cricket Australia to perform ‘1868’ at the SCG last December for the second T20 test between Australia and India.
As a collaborator Matt has had his songs recorded by many Australian Country artists including – Lee and Tania Kernaghan, Sara Storer, Adam Harvey, The Wolfe Brothers, Jayne Denham, Tom Curtain, Travis Collins and Amber Lawrence. Cold Chisel even recorded one of Matt’s songs on their 2015 album ‘The Perfect Crime’.
This year has been an interesting one to say the least. Still Matt has kept himself busy with a recent four month Top End tour to promote his new album.
